Announcing the winner of the David B. Martin Best Paper Award 2017

One year ago the ECSCW community lost one of its most respected and prolific members. Dr. David Martin was a stalwart of the ECSCW community, Associate Editor of the CSCW journal, and a great friend, colleague and mentor to many.

In the 12 months that have passed, the community has come together to celebrate David’s life and work, and to ensure that his legacy will continue to be honoured.

The David B. Martin Best Paper Award has been established with the sponsorship of Xerox Research Centre Europe (where David worked for many years) to recognise a full paper accepted to ECSCW that particularly contributes to the multidisciplinary understanding of society and/or work from a CSCW perspective. The award is particularly intended for early and mid-career researchers.

We are delighted to announce that the winners of the inaugural award are Mateusz Dolata and Gerhard Schwabe (University of Zurich) for their ECSCW 2017 paper “Paper practices in institutional talk: How financial advisors impress their clients”, for the original, detailed and thoroughly grounded study of an interesting work domain and problems.

The Award will be officially presented to the winning paper during ECSCW 2017 in Sheffield.

Congratulations to Mateusz and Gerhard!
