Early career researcher? Get to know the EUSSET community

Are you an early career researcher, a PhD student or a Post Doc fellow working within areas related to practice-based computing? The EUSSET community offers opportunities for you to get involved in community services and build your academic network.

Join us in the ECSCW 2022 early career event and in the decicated early career space on the EUSSET social hub to learn more.

We understand that it might be difficult for you as a newcomer to our community – as a PhD student or a Post Doc fellow – to understand what EUSSET is, who is who in the EUSSET community, and how you can get involved. Through our early career services – in particular the ECSCW events – we aim to introduce you to EUSSET, offer you opportunities to build a network, and at the same time help you build your academic CV through participation in community services. Additionally, some of our services aim to create opportunities for you to work on joint ideas for publications with other community members.

The EUSSET steering committee organizes yearly early career events as part of the ECSCW conferences. These open events offer an informal forum for you to get to know other community members. This year’s event will be announced as part of the ECSCW 2022 conference program. You should plan to join the event if you want to know more about EUSSET, learn about our early career services, and talk to us about how you can contribute to and be an active member of our community.

To give you an idea of what these early career events contain you can read more about last year’s event. Although important entry points for many of you, note that these early career events are not the only service we provide – or plan to provide – as our early career opportunities “package” in EUSSET. And you don’t need to wait for the event in order to get involved. In this web page you can find an overview of current early career services and opportunities. We have also created a dedicated early career space in the EUSSET social hub. We suggest that you join or follow this space for more information about future activities, and discuss your areas of concern with other community members. There you will also find material from earlier ECSCW events.

We would very much like to extend our early career service package together with you. Your input is valuable for us in order to create better services and meaningful participation for you and other early career researchers. Get involved!
